The cooking class is taught by local women.

Our cooking class is very hands-on and taught by the local Goriška Brda women. They will guide you through the preparation of a variety of delicious Slovenian recipes, share local cooking philosophy, special ingredients and reveal some of their culinary secrets and family recipes.



HOLIDAY ITINERARY:

DAY 1 – ARRIVE TO LJUBLJANA 

Welcome to Slovenia’s charming capital! Arrive in Ljubljana and check into your room. Stroll along the riverbanks and admire iconic bridges and stunning architecture, explore the historical city centre and medieval old town and walk around the colourful marketplace. Don't miss the opportunity to visit Ljubljana Castle and treat yourself with beautiful views of the city from the castle’s ramparts or Outlook Tower. In the afternoon you will meet your guide and fellow travelers in the hotel. Enjoy a welcome dinner while discussing the exciting itinerary ahead.

DAY 2 – EXPLORE VIPAVA VALLEY  

After breakfast, drive to the very edge of the Karst with a spectacular views of the entire Vipava Valley. Meet the local organic cheese producer, walk to the colorful pastures and interact with the sheep and goats. Learn the story about their farm and taste different kinds of cheeses paired with jams and fresh local herbs. Explore the scenic hillside town Vipavski križ with a unique historical background. Admire the old streets and squares in one of the sunniest regions of Slovenia. Short transfer to a small village in Vipava Valley and visit a family-run wine cellar. During the wine tasting learn about the rich winemaking traditions of the region. Continue to Goriška Brda, Slovenia’s most beautiful winegrowing region. Check into your room, swim in the pool or just relax in the garden with a glass of local wine. In the evening enjoy a welcome dinner with a wine pairing. Cheers to happiness and stunning vineyard views.

DAY 3 – DISCOVER GORIŠKA BRDA WITH COOKING CLASS 

Begin your day with a visit to the historic Dobrovo Castle, a stunning Renaissance structure from the 17th century. Immerse yourself in the scenic beauty of the poetic village of Medana, before climbing to the lookout tower at Gonjače, that offers magnificent views of the entire region and even the Adriatic coast. Wrap the tour by visiting Šmartno, one of the best preserved medieval villages in Slovenia. In the heart of Goriška Brda you will discover a true wine journey from the vineyard to the cellar. Experience the flavors of their wines accomplished with local cold cuts and guided tour of their family wine cellar. After everyone has put their aprons on, we will begin our cooking class at 5 PM. The cooking lesson will last around 2 hours and focus on cooking traditional Goriška Brda dishes. Local women will share their culinary secrets and family recipes. After a delicious meal crafted by your own hands, enjoy the tour of the family-owned wine cellar. The owners will show you how they follow and nurture a centuries-old tradition of winemaking methods in addition to offering diverse, excellent certified organic wines.

DAY 4 – THE KARST REGION AWAITS
 

Start the day with a drive to the Karst wine-growing region. Explore old villages, admire the landscape of limestone plateaus and taste the world of culinary delights. Visit a local wine maker, tour their 200-year-old wine cellar and discover the taste of Karst with their famous local wines and air dried ham (Karst prosciutto). Take a leisurely stroll through the medieval village of Štanjel, the pearl of the Karst stone villages, and feel the history and culture of this region. Meet the local producer and learn the traditions of the Karst Honey with Protected Designation of Origin. Taste the traditional Karst dishes at a local restaurant for dinner and their famous dessert, pear in Teran wine sauce and walnut štrukelj.

DAY 5 – PIRAN AND SLOVENIAN ISTRIA 

Spend a day on the Slovenian coast region and discover the scenic, historical, and gourmet delights. Meet the local olive oil producer who will take you into the journey of tasting the extra virgin olive oil, before wandering through the charming and romantic Piran, one of the cutest towns in Slovenia. Walk along the beautiful narrow streets, and admire the rich history that is reflected in the Venetian architecture. You will be charmed by the stunning views from the old Piran Town Wall, from which you can admire the city from a different perspective and see the coastline of the Adriatic Sea. Savor a seafood lunch on your own if desired before free time for shopping, or just sipping a coffee on a Tartini Square. In the hinterland of Slovenian Istria taste traditional local dishes prepared by old family recipes, from homemade pasta with truffles or scampi to famous octopus or meat cooked under the lid. We will spice up the event with apéritif and raise a toast with local wine to celebrate an unforgettable day with the view of the entire Piran Bay.

DAY 6 – SOČA VALLEY ADVENTURE

A day trip to the stunning Soča River Valley, one of the most beautiful river valleys in the world. The day will be a blend of nature, history, and delicious food. Visit a local fish farm and learn about the famous Soča Marble trout. Enjoy a scenic and pleasant walk to the lovely, hidden Kozjak waterfalls before visiting the historic town of Kobarid, where Ernest Hemingway was inspired to pen his novel, A Farewell to Arms. Thanks to unspoiled nature and Alpine pastures, only few can resist famous local culinary specialties in the region. Experience the flavors of Soča Valley through a gastronomic experience, slow-food dinner, paired with the best Slovenian wines, set against the backdrop of the majestic Mount Mangart.

DAY 7 – SPARKLING WINE AND FAREWELL DINNER 

In the heart of Goriška Brda, uncover the brilliance of one of Slovenia's oldest wineries, located in a chateau that was built in the 13th century. It is now home to a family run winery, primarily known for their award-winning sparkling wines, crafted using traditional techniques. Tour the wine cellar, connect with the passionate winemaker and enjoy tasting the selection of sparkling wines, all while enjoying the breathtaking views of the Goriška Brda wine region. Gather for a memorable farewell dinner served in the countryside of Goriška Brda. Each dish will be thoughtfully paired with our host's exceptional selections, introducing you to Slovenia's renowned amber wines, also known as orange wines. Winery continually ranks on the list of 100 best wineries in the world by Wine and Spirits Magazine. Raise a toast to a delightful culinary adventure in Slovenia, celebrating the unforgettable memories created throughout the tour.

DAY 8 – GOODBYE SLOVENIA 

After breakfast, guests have time to check out of their rooms. You will be taking delicious flavors, good memories, local products, and a collection of fantastic Slovenian recipes home with you. We will transfer to the vibrant capital town of Ljubljana to catch afternoon flights or train departures. Or, extend your stay to explore the old part of the city and its colourful matketplace.
